What does a generator hookup include?
The exact setup depends on the generator and your home. Brandon can install the appropriate inlet, wiring, and transfer equipment so you can power selected circuits safely.
Do you install hookups for portable generators?
Yes. Brandon can set up a safe, convenient panel connection for a suitable portable generator and show you how the system is meant to be used.
Why can’t I plug a generator directly into a wall outlet?
That can backfeed the electrical system and put people at serious risk. A generator should use approved transfer equipment installed by a licensed electrician.
How do I choose which circuits the generator will power?
Brandon will talk through what matters most—often the fridge, sump pump, furnace controls, lighting, and a few outlets—then plan the connection around the generator’s capacity.
Can you wire a standby generator?
Yes. Brandon can take care of the electrical hookup for a suitable standby generator and coordinate the connection requirements with the rest of the installation.
Can I run a generator in my garage during an outage?
No. A running generator produces deadly carbon monoxide. It belongs outdoors at a safe distance from the house, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
How much does a generator hookup cost?
The cost depends on the generator, panel, transfer equipment, and wiring route. Give Brandon a call and he’ll make the quoting process straightforward.
Will my electrical panel work with a generator connection?
It may. Brandon can inspect the panel and let you know whether it can accept the required equipment or needs another solution.
